Empowering safe drivers, one road test at a time.
Roadmaster Driving School has been a trusted name in the drivers training business since 1997. We take great pride in providing the highest quality road tests, administered by the most skilled and patient examiners. Our goal is to ensure that every applicant feels comfortable and prepared throughout the testing process. We understand that taking a road test can be a nerve-wracking experience, which is why we strive to create a positive and stress-free environment for all of our applicants.
COVID-19 Policies for Applicants
In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Roadmaster Driving School has implemented strict policies to ensure the safety of all applicants and examiners. These policies include enforcing social distancing guidelines, requiring the use of face masks, and thoroughly sanitizing all vehicles and equipment between tests. We are committed to following all CDC and government recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Road Tests
At Roadmaster Driving School, we offer road tests for individuals of all ages. We understand that taking a road test can be a daunting experience, which is why we provide all the resources and information needed to help applicants feel confident and prepared. Our road tests are designed to ensure that all applicants have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly.
What to Study
We encourage every driver to thoroughly study and review all necessary materials before taking a road test. This will help to ensure that applicants are fully prepared and have the best chance of passing on the first try. We provide a variety of resources to help applicants study, including the Driving Skills Test Study Guide and What Every Driver Must Know, which contains all the basic driving rules for Michigan roads.
What to Bring
Applicants should make sure to bring all required materials to their road test, including a valid learner's permit and payment. For a detailed list of what to bring, please refer to our website.
Tests for Teens
Individuals under 18 must complete a state certified drivers education course through a certified driving school before taking a road test. This includes Segment 1 and Segment 2 classes. In addition, the State of Michigan requires a minimum of 50 hours of practice driving, 10 hours of which must be at night, with a parent, legal guardian, or licensed adult 21 years of age or older with parent permission. A driving log must be kept to track these hours.
Easy Scheduling
Scheduling a road test with Roadmaster Driving School is easy and convenient. To schedule a test, applicants must have their permit and payment ready. They can book their test online or by calling (231) 715-1616. If we are testing or answering other calls, please leave a message and we will return it as soon as possible.
Tests for Adults
For adults, a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) must be obtained from the Secretary of State before practicing. This permit is typically valid for 6 months. If an applicant has driven before, the Secretary of State may waive the practice period or 30 days, allowing them to test right away. If the practice period is not waived, the road test can still be scheduled ahead of time to ensure a timely test. If the test is waived, the Secretary of State will note this on the TIP.
What to Bring
Applicants should bring their permit and payment to their road test. For a detailed list of what to bring, please refer to our website.
What to Study
Both teens and adults take the same road test, the details of which can be found in the Driving Skills Test Study Guide. The What Every Driver Must Know booklet is also an important resource for all drivers, as it contains all the basic driving rules for Michigan roads.
Practice
Practice is key to calming nerves and building confidence before a road test. While it is normal to feel anxious, additional practice can help to alleviate these feelings and increase the likelihood of passing the test.
Off Road Cones Course
Our off road cones course is designed to mimic the course used across the state. It is meant to confirm that applicants are able to maneuver a vehicle comfortably. The Driving Skills Test booklet contains all the specifics of this part of the test.
General Driving
Driving a car without other vehicles around is one thing, but driving on the road with unpredictable traffic and other obstacles can be challenging. This is why it is so important to be fully prepared and confident before getting behind the wheel. Roadmaster Driving School is here to help every applicant achieve this level of confidence and skill.
