Empowering Responsible Drivers, One Student at a Time

At Code 4 Driving School, we are proud to have been serving the Modesto, CA community for the past 14 years. Our mission is to provide high-quality driver education and training to new drivers of all ages, helping them to become safe and responsible drivers.

Driver Education

In order to obtain a Learner's Permit in the state of California, applicants who are under the age of 17 1/2 are required to complete a California Department of Motor Vehicles approved Driver Education Course. At Code 4 Driving School, we offer a 30-hour online course that meets this requirement. This course is informative, easy to use, and can be accessed at the student's convenience. Once the student completes the entire 30-hour online course, they will receive a Certificate of Completion of Driver Education, which must be presented to the DMV when applying for a Learner's Permit.

Driver Training

Driver Training is the State required minimum six hours of Behind-the-Wheel training, broken up into three, two-hour lessons. At Code 4 Driving School, our certified instructors provide simple but thorough training using a three-session process. During the first lesson, we cover the basic operations of the car, including turns, lane changes, starting, stopping, and backing. The second session focuses on parking, one way streets, and freeway driving. The third session begins with a mock DMV exam using DMV scoring criteria. If the mock test reveals any weaknesses, the remainder of the lesson is focused on correcting those weaknesses to give the student the best chance of passing the drivers test the first time.

Parent/Guardian Supervision

After completing the Drivers Ed Course and their first driving lesson with a licensed driving school, the student can drive with any California licensed driver over the age of 25. The student is required to hold their Permit for a minimum of six months before applying for a drivers license. During that six-month period, the Parent/Guardian is required to drive a minimum of 50 hours with 10 of those hours being at night. The six hours of driving school instruction does NOT count toward the 50 hours.

Taking the Drivers Test

Once a student completes six hours of Drivers Training, Code 4 Driving School will issue a Certificate of Completion of Drivers Training. This is the form that must be presented to the DMV when the student takes the DMV Drive Test. The student will only be allowed to take the test when the following conditions are met:

  • They are 16 years or older
  • Held a Learner's Permit for 6 months or more
  • Completed 6 Hours of Behind-the-Wheel training with a licensed Driving School
  • Completed 50 Hours of practice with their parent/guardian

Once the student has met these requirements, they will be eligible to take the Drive Test at any California DMV Office.

Our Commitment

At Code 4 Driving School, we are committed to providing the highest quality driver education and training to our students. Our courses are designed to meet the requirements of the California DMV while also providing the knowledge and skills necessary to be safe and responsible drivers. We offer convenient and flexible scheduling, and our certified instructors are dedicated to helping our students succeed.
